Since I had a connection in London, my luggage didn't make it to Dubai until Sunday night; a minor inconvenience that probably increased my level of anxiety far too much.
The weather here is as expected. It is incredibly hot and humid, despite the desert climate. For instance, when leaving an air-conditioned space to walk outdoors, my glasses frequently fogged up. Odd, since in Wisconsin, this usually happened in Winter when going indoors.
Back to the jet lag. After arriving late at night, I managed only to sleep an hour or so before having to make it to work by 8:00 am. Needless to say, Sunday was NOT pleasant. Sunday night, after getting to bed around 10:00 pm, I managed to sleep for about two hours before waking up and remaining awake for about 2 hours. Then I fell back asleep and managed to sleep past my alarm. Fortunately I still got to work on time. Jet lag is certainly a pain, but I can feel that I am slowly adjusting to the time difference.
Well, that's it for my first post from Dubai. Please comment with any questions you might have about the region, demography, weather, etc... I'd be happy to try and answer anything while I'm here in the Middle Eastern furnace.
Ben
